The darkest day of the year is here, but you know what that means? The light returns!
In the darker months, it’s important to make sure to make sure Vitamin D levels are optimal (70-90 ng/ml). If you’re in the Pacific Northwest, this means you need to supplement! Make sure to take your Vitamin D with a meal, as fat enhances the absorption. But remember, you can have too much of a good thing! Vitamin D toxicity can occur with excessive supplementation and it’s difficult to reverse. Be sure you periodically have your Vitamin D levels checked - this can be done with a simple blood test. The test isn’t always covered by insurance, but it’s only $18 with the cash lab I use. Reply to this e-mail to learn more.
Darker days, family interactions (or lack thereof), holiday craziness, and the continuous heartbreaking news of tragedies happening not only in Gaza, but even in our own backyards … there are so many reasons why the world can feel really hard right now.
I hope you find time to take care of yourself this holiday season - go for a walk in nature, prioritize rest, sweat, savor some delicious food, laugh, and connect with your community.
I’m sharing a guided meditation practice for difficult times from one of my favorite teachers, Sarah Blondin. It’s called A Message of Hope, and I hope it helps soothe anything that needs soothing. 🤍
Brighter days are coming. And (hopefully) snowier days, too🎿. Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season, and a restorative New Year.
